At the conference, participants joined a community of likeminded leaders in the industry and heard from a dynamic lineup of speakers, each influential in their respective field from a neuroscientist and bestselling author to a Presidential Medal of Freedom Recipient. Mark Matson

The Founder and CEO of Matson Money, a $10.5 billion (as of 3.26.24) in assets under management RIA, who works with over 500 unaffiliated advisors across the United States, as well as in Puerto Rico, and in Canada. Mark created The American Dream Experience and the Matson Method, helping make Nobel Prize-winning investing research accessible to everyday investors. He is the author of several books including: The Dirty Filthy Lies My Broker Taught Me, 101 Truths About Money & Investing, and Main Street Money: How to Outwit, Outsmart, and Out Invest the Wall Street Bullies.

He is a frequent guest on national news programs including Fox Business, CNBC, Bloomberg and Yahoo Finance. Mark and his wife Melissa reside in Scottsdale, Arizona, and are the proud parents of eight children. Mark shared from his more than 30 years of industry experience, speaking to the audience about what it means to be a True Entrepreneur, what it takes to create an Extraordinary Life and what is required to do the unimaginable.

Dr. David Eagleman

Neuroscientist and Matson Money Academic Advisory Board Member Dr. David Eagleman joined this year’s Advanced Advisor Conference as a presenter. “You have to have both the mental and portfolio design, without both, the system will never work,” said Matson.

Dr. David Eagleman is a neuroscientist at Stanford University, an internationally bestselling author, and a Guggenheim Fellow. He is the writer and presenter of The Brain, an Emmy-nominated television series on PBS and BBC. Dr. Eagleman's areas of research include sensory substitution, time perception, vision, and synesthesia; he also studies the intersection of neuroscience with the legal system, and in that capacity he directs the Center for Science and Law. Eagleman is the author of many books, including Livewired, The Runaway Species, The Brain, Incognito, Wednesday is Indigo Blue, Brain and Behavior, as well as a bestselling book of literary fiction, Sum. He shared insights into the motivations and decision-making patterns of the human brain and generated methods that can help effect change and form habits when resolutions are not enough.

David DeVoe

“One of the saddest things I have ever had to do running this company is have to meet with a spouse whose husband or wife died without a success plan,” said Matson. At this year’s conference, to share his expertise on mergers and acquisitions and succession planning was David DeVoe. David holds an MBA from Cornell University Johnson Graduate School of Management and is the founder of DeVoe & Company which helps wealth management companies optimize their business decisions. His company, founded in 2011, helps support hundreds of firms in consulting, investment banking, and valuation engagement. David has been a leader on RIA practice management for 18 years and was named the “RIA M&A Guru” by Barron's Magazine.1 David shared his insights on a mindset for succession in an emerging crisis and how advisors can plan for the future at any stage of their career.

Dr. Savina Rizova

Sharing her expertise and American Dream was Savina Rizova, Dimensional's Head of Research. Savina applies her background in finance to a wide variety of research projects that Dimensional undertakes to improve every step of its investment process, from research on drivers of returns to portfolio design, portfolio management, and trading. She works closely with the Sales team and the rest of the Investment team to develop value-added investment solutions that seek to meet client needs, goals, and preferences in a systematic, reliable, and cost-efficient manner. In addition, Savina leads the efforts of the Research group to provide thought leadership to clients and prospects on important investment-related topics. Savina is also a member of the Investment Committee and Co-Chair of the Investment Research Committee.

Dr. Art Laffer

Dr. Art Laffer's economic acumen brings a distinct advantage to Matson Money, its coaches, and clients with insights on the implication of economic policy on savers and investors. Frequently referred to as “The Father of Supply-Side Economics,” Dr. Laffer helps navigate the complexities of the economy, interest rates, and tax efficiency as it applies to portfolio construction. Dr. Laffer serves as a member of Matson Money’s Academic Advisory Board and was a welcomed contributor to this year’s speaker lineup.
