Are You Ready to Journey in a New Direction?

Early in our careers, many of us tend to get bored, or the markets take a severe drop leaving us to wonder, is it time to journey in a new direction? A recent article in The Washington Post concerns a modern-day establishment in No. Virginia that has a remarkable history and prompts our blog post. The article-provoking reveals an inspiring woman’s career journey, and the thought-provoking article is titled, ‘Wolford Rolls out Round Hill Events Venue.’

Joan Wolford hoped to make it to Broadway at the start of her career, but it wasn’t in the cards. However, she did sing with bands plus other activities to support herself. Her career history includes waiting on tables at dining establishments and other endeavors. Today, she is creating a new Western dining and entertainment destination. The remarkable side to the story is that ‘Joan Wolford, owner of this year’s favorite Catering Company: Savoir Faire, has spent the past three years converting the former Round Hill furniture factory building into a Catering venue.’

My Story

It is often necessary to pick up the pieces of the seeming failures we experience for learning purposes enabling us to advance. Many of us enjoying life have encountered unique career starts and stops. The success differentiator is in gathering knowledge from undesirable experiences and moving forward. Take a moment to imagine ‘perfection’ through your career; it may be happy but potentially boring and not bring us to new heights of surprise and opportunity.

Learn From the Worst to Achieve the Best

For most, the challenge is to move past lamenting about awful situations to learn from them so that we may advance. It was disheartening to move from partnering in a successful publicized party-giving business when the economy tanked to becoming a secretary at a marketing firm. Picking up the pace, I requested marketing instruction from the agency owner, and he obliged.

However, learning about unethical behavior led me to another undesirable secretarial position. That benefit in the undesirable is that it led to further international travel. The experiences and the joy of learning from varying cultures raised the thought of becoming an international travel blogger, but it was long before the concept of blogging was known. If I had the means to make it alone, there would have been no turning back.

Two more entrepreneurial endeavors and a sales career, including bigotry directed toward me, led to my last and favorite entrepreneurial work, Smooth Sale! Best of all, I can incorporate what matters to me most and offer insights for helping others discover how to advance their endeavors as a part of community service. Working toward the greater good whenever possible is an extra element leading us to success.

All the previous skills, mishaps, and good experiences give us the lessons and tools to achieve what we enjoy most. But the qualifier is to dedicate ourselves to unique interests, be of sound mind, body, and spirit, and never give up!

Your Story: Are You Ready to Journey In A New Direction?

It’s necessary to be of strong mind, body, and spirit to move past the ill will some of us face to find the better moments in our lifetime. However, the question remains, are you ready to journey in a new direction? Many find the thought terrifying!

Resist making plans hastily; instead, take the time to think things through and create a long-term plan with short-term goals leading up to it. Monitoring progress toward your goals and learning new strategies will make you realize it was all for the best and meant to be!

Upon hearing people say, ‘You can’t do that!’ be of the mindset to reply, ‘Just watch me,’ mentally! And then soar above all the negativities. But know upfront; it’s never easy to be alone without support. It is necessary to educate yourself however you may and learn from everything that transpires to move forward. Repeating the motto,

Passion, Purpose, and Perseverance will get you to your goal.
