Creating Opportunistic Time Through Technology

Advisorpedia interviewed Flyer Financial Technologies' Chief Product Officer Brian Bleasdell at the FSI OneVoice Conference in February, 2022.

"The technology shift that's happening in the industry is really bringing large company or large platform Trading Technologies to the independent advisory space, where today they're doing a lot of things manually. And a lot of its focused on account administration.

We're trying to be bring more of the platform perspective to trading to automate and scale so they can focus on the things they really want to do with client accounts, not the things they have to do.

People often talk about saving advisor ton of saving Portfolio Manager time, whereas for us, it's really about how do we create opportunistic time for them to do the activities they think add value to client accounts, account administration really isn't adding value. It's just doing the things you have to do day in and day out to take care of business. But, it doesn't allow you to put your influence and stamp on client portfolios by being opportunistic and proactive and what you need to be invested in.

A couple of practical examples is the first thing in the morning a portfolio managers often going to spend the first hour or two looking for cash flows looking at reporting and finding do. Are there specific accounts I need to go and manually handle, or deal with and they don't have really a good way of finding those those situations. And none of that's really automated today.

The look at flows reports from custodians, whereas our platform is going to provide all that information upfront for them and allow workflow to be done right from there such that they can implement the trades they need to do on the academy ministration side in a matter of minutes. And take the time that they're not spending doing account administration actually focusing on managing the portfolios and looking for opportunities to make strategic stock picks and and decisions."
