Tai-Chin Tung, CEO
Tai-Chin has over 30 years of experience in the investment industry, having held executive leadership roles in the United States and abroad. Tai-Chin’s multi-disciplined experience and multi-functional approach underpins her solution-oriented investment approach. Through her experience as a member of both Fidelity’s Asia Operating Committee and Charles Schwab Asset Management’s Investment Committee, Tai-Chin developed a unique combination of investment and distribution expertise that benefits a wide range of clients. In addition, her Operations background, spanning various geopolitical environments, enables her to take a global perspective in offering options and solutions for clients. Since departing from Fidelity, Tai-Chin has dedicated her energy in organic farming, education, retirement planning and medical aspects of finance to promote general well beings of end clients. Her work focuses on investing directly in pre-public stage companies who have clear missions to create good and on providing strategic directions to private companies in the areas of growth and operating leverage.
Douglas Heikkinen, Founder, Editor and Creative Director
Doug has over 25 years of experience as a marketing and communications professional, providing creative services to the financial services sector and others. He is a defector from the corporate world, taking with him a thorough understanding of the mindset of capital business. From out of the “cage” at Shearson Lehman Brothers, he spent 12 years at Schwab Advisor Services where he was instrumental in all aspects of the areas growth and maturity. Since then, he’s co-led two successful start-ups, and was also the President of a Northwest brand/design agency. Jakie Kangas Beard, Vice President of Marketing
Jakie is responsible for marketing, digital media production and sponsorship fulfillment for Advisorpedia. She has more than 15 years of marketing, communications and event management experience in the financial services industry, and built a deep understanding of Advisors, investors and the challenges they face through her work at Wells Fargo Wealth Management, Schwab Advisor Services and Schwab Corporate Services. Michelle Richard, Director of Business Solutions
Michelle comes to Advisorpedia with over 13 years of experience working on creative, analytical, and detail-oriented projects. She brings passion and excitement to every opportunity and loves working closely with clients to meet their KPI’s and campaign goals. Michelle’s expertise lies in creating thoughtful and meaningful proposals using new, innovative mediums and techniques as well as tried and true methods. She joins us from InvestmentNews where she worked on complex, custom and integrated campaigns. She has excellent business development skills and loves to develop lasting and meaningful relationships with her clients. Prior to InvestmentNews, Michelle was at Financial Advisor Magazine where she worked with clients and agencies on their digital campaigns and strategies.
Prior to working in the financial space, Michelle worked as a fashion designer and developed clothing for mass-market retailers as well as small, premium boutique brands. She utilizes the skills she learned in the fashion industry as well as at Mount Ida College, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fashion Design in 2008 with a minor in Legal Studies. Mark Sullivan, Vice President, Business Development
Mark has 30 years of relationship management experience in the financial services industry with market leaders like Fidelity Investments, Charles Schwab and BNY Mellon, where he grew the relationships of multi-national non-profit and plan sponsor organizations. Mark's core strengths are based in his ability to earn the trust and confidence of his clients by thoroughly understanding his clients' needs, before offering any solutions.
Mark also has several years of start-up company experience, most notably with PayPal, where he served as VP of Operations, Client Service Director for X.com, the predecessor company to PayPal, and then later as President of PayPal Asset Management, reporting directly to Elon Musk. In his most recent professional adventure, new business development, Mark has successfully grown commercial banking relationships for Citizens Bank and Wellesley Bank by an average of 25% year over year. Tom Wagner, Vice President, Business Development
Tom comes to Advisorpedia with over 30 years of experience in developing and deepening relationships with asset managers, registered investment advisors and broker dealers. For the past decade he was with DWS, where he was responsible for cultivating and understanding the needs and opportunities of his clients in the registered investment advisor and independent broker dealer channels. Before that, Tom held multiple roles at Fidelity Investments in relationship management, product management, client services and sales, with a focus on supporting Fidelity’s institutional relationships. He enjoys time with this wife, Annika and their three adult children, and is passionate about soccer, golf, college basketball and traveling. Todd Schriber, Senior Writer
Todd Shriber has been covering financial markets for close to two decades. During the global financial crisis, he was a trader at long/short hedge fund, specializing in sector and country-specific exchange traded funds. He parlayed that into a more than decade-long, still active career analyzing and writing about ETFs. In addition to ETFs, he covers financial aspects of the casino industry, including earnings, mergers and acquisitions and SPAC transactions. He lives in Southern California with his black labrador.
Ian Smith, Head of Technology
Ian has a savant level Systems Theory and has been an Agile Programmer for 20 years in 20 languages. Ian specializes in complex problem-solving in software architecture, data forensics, cross-platform integration, automation, and possess a high level of knowledge and experience in Network and OS Security, Systems Theory, and project leadership. A small list of achievements include: teaching Linux at NASA, writing partition tables in hexadecimal for partition recovery, mapping Living Systems to software models, Forex arbitrage network, fractal market predictions, and creating an RSA cryptocurrency in 2002 with a double spend solution similar to Ripple.
Alex Heist, Developer
Alex is a young, tenacious full-stack software developer. With experience in multiple languages and platforms, he has helped small businesses and startups build and launch their creative visions. He earned a degree in software development from the College of Western Idaho and is continuing his education at Boise State University.
LeeAnn Roy, Research Associate
LeeAnn drives key research initiaives along with reporting on sales and business metrics for Adivsorpedia. She has a degree in accounting and finance from Southern New Hampshire University and speaks conversational Japanese.
Carter Davis, Research Associate
Carter is a research analyst for Advisorpedia and a third-year student at Bently University, where he is pursuing a degree in Corporate Finance and Accounting. In addition to his classes at Bentley, he is involved in the Bentley Investment Group, the largest student-run fund in the United States.
Alexander Wanandi, Marketing Associate
Alexander is a marketing associate at Advisorpedia, working with us to build real-world experience in marketing and sales through the Cooperative Education Program at Northeastern University. He is a junior at Northeastern, majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing.
